Radioactive waste requires, due to its high hazard potential, careful handling from production to final disposal. In all waste management activities the safety objectives defined by the authorities must be met to guarantee an adequate protection of the public. Waste management starts with the registration of the radioactive waste arising at different locations from medical applications, industry, research as well as at nuclear fuel cycle facilities. The waste is then stored, conditioned into an appropriate form for further handling and disposal, intermediately stored whenever necessary over long periods of time, and eventually disposed of.
Waste management is a long-lasting task requiring appropriate boundary conditions and careful planning. Essential are a sound regulatory framework, safe and effective implementation, and sufficient funding.
We have detailed knowledge and many years of experience in all aspects of waste management and disposal. Our background includes the planning and operation of all German repositories as well as the successful performance of engineering and consulting assignments for national and international clients from Western and Eastern Europe, America, and Asia.
