At the Morsleben final repository fiber optic sensing systems are used to monitor strains in different borehole intervals, fissure openings at the walls as a function of time and brine inflow rates at the ridge. The purpose of the installations is to check the proper working of the different sensing systems in a salt host rock environment by comparing the measurement results with those from conventional sensing systems.
