DBE TECHNOLOGY GmbH presented new results from research work on injection materials for sealing of fractures in underground facilities in a repository at the Construction Chemistry Conference (October 6-7, 2011) in Hamburg

The German Chemical Society organized the Construction Chemistry Conference from October 6-7, 2011, at the Technical University in Hamburg-Harburg. This conference is meant as an information platform for the presentation of the latest results and for professional and technical communication and discussions between construction chemists as well as scientists from universities, companies, research institutions and associations interested in construction chemistry.

Concrete construction materials are of high relevance for stabilization and protection measures in the underground excavations of mines and repositories. The sealing of fractures in the surrounding rocks is important in addition to the construction of geotechnical barriers for the longterm stable closure of excavations. For many years DBE TECHNOLOGY GmbH carried out extensive research work to identify appropriate injection materials for repositories in salt rock. The latest results for research on natron sodium silicate and its interaction with saline solutions, which will be expected in salt rock, were presented at the conference on a poster with the following title and discussed with conference participants:

  •  Hardened Natron Sodium Silicate in Interaction with Saline Solutions – Generation of New Mineral Phases
